Extended Medical Insurance

Extended medical insurance helps cover expenses and treatments not covered by BC Medical Services Plan (MSP), or other provincial medical plans, providing you more coverage and comprehensive protection against medical costs that might otherwise strain your finances.

Most commonly, you receive extended medical insurance through your employer's benefits package. If your employer does not provide you coverage, you are between jobs, or you are an entrepreneur, you can obtain extended medical insurance from various private insurance providers that offer standalone extended medical plans.

No matter where you get your extended medical coverage from, it’s important to carefully review the coverage options and terms of your policy. Each policy has specific coverages, limitations, and exclusions.

By reviewing your policy, you ensure that you fully understand what's covered, which medical services and providers are included, and how much you may need to pay out of pocket. By knowing the extent of your coverage, you can make informed decisions about your healthcare and be prepared for potential costs that might arise.
